چکیده

Interpretation is a long-established mathematical approach that has the capability to statically analyse the dynamic properties of a system. Traditionally, it has been applied to software, allowing useful information about the run-time properties of programs to be determined without requiring them to be executed. This paper presents an abstract interpretation framework that allows dynamic properties of asynchronous circuits to be statically determined. We define several alternative models that together form a lattice with Galois connections.

On the application of program analysis and transformation to high reliability hardware

Safetyand mission-critical systems must be both correct and reliable. Electronic systems must behave as intended and, where possible, do so at the first attempt – the fabrication costs of modern VLSI devices are such that the iterative design/code/test methodology endemic to the software world is not financially feasible. In aerospace applications it is also essential to establish that systems ...

Analysing Mailboxes of Asynchronous Communicating Components

Asynchronous communications are prominent in distributed and mobile systems. Often concurrent systems consider an abstract point of view with synchronous communications. However it seems more realistic and finer to consider asynchronous communicating systems, since it provides a more primitive communication protocol and maximize the concurrency. Several languages and models have been defined us...

Sliding Window Logic Simulation

Existing digital logic simulators typically depend on a discrete-time model of circuit behaviour. Whilst this approach is sufficient in many cases for the validation of the behaviour of synchronous circuits, it is not good at identifying glitches that are narrower than the available time resolution. Moreover, it is not generally feasible to accommodate uncertainty in delay time in such a way as...

MULTI FRACTURE/DELAMINATION ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITES SUBJECTED TO IMPACT LOADINGS

A combined finite/ discrete element method is presented for modelling of composite specimens subjected to dynamic/impact loadings. The main task is set on developing an algorithm for simulation of potential bonding and debonding/delamination phenomena during impact or general dynamic loading conditions. In addition, full fracture analysis can also be performed. The proposed approach adopts a ge...
